Key Programmes

The CDF has operated a number of key programmes. They include:

  • The NGO/CBO Grants Window Programme
This provided funding support for the implementation of project proposals submitted by voluntary non governmental organisations.

  • The Institutional Strengthening Programme
Support the growth and development of organisations through the pro vision of training, and technical advice and support with organisational development and programme implementation and management.

  • The Community Enhancement and Regeneration Programme (CERP)
This programme advocates a multi and trans disciplinary approach to dealing with poverty in depressed/disadvantaged communities. The programme identifies the poorest communities and seeks to implement comprehensive programmes involving the development of infrastructure and facilities and human development initiatives as part of its approaches. The programme also advocates the development of Local Management Organisations.

  • Private/Public Partnerships
This programme emphasises the need to engage the private and in particular the corporate sector in collaborative efforts with local communities as a distinct mechanism for poverty alleviation and empowerment.

  • Strengthening Poverty Alleviation Capacity in Government Ministries
Some of the initiatives under this programme include the development of a comprehensive database of organisations in the voluntary non governmental sector; funding research to develop informative poverty data for use by agencies and organisations involved in poverty alleviation/eradication efforts; funding research towards the establishment of a body of information on the legal framework within which the voluntary non governmental sector should operate and funding research towards the collection of information which would assist the sector in making decisions on its corporate governance.
